Will it crack?
Properly made concrete does not. Where it does, it is a fault in the mix, the reinforcement or the design — and we treat it as a failure to be recast, not character to be explained away.
Cast, not cut
Concrete services – in-house design and rendering, cast in our workshop and installed by ourselves as needed. We are about ten miles from Brighton and work within roughly 50 miles of Small Dole.
ROKA Studio is a design-and-make studio in Small Dole, West Sussex, working in architectural concrete. We cast worktops, islands and cladding, in the workshop, or in place on site where the design calls for a run with no joints.

5-year guarantee · we remake our own mistakesConcrete has a reputation, and most of it was earned by badly built driveways that crack. Glass-fibre reinforced concrete is a different material altogether, and failure is rare. But rare isn't never, and you shouldn't have to take our word for it.
If anything we make and fit fails through our fault in the first year, we remake it. From year two to year five, we repair it.

Architectural Wall Cladding
Large-format panels, feature walls and fireplace surrounds. Board-marked, ribbed or smooth, in GFRC where weight is the constraint. Ask about cladding
We talk through the space, the layout and what the surface has to do. Usually a call, then a visit with samples if you are local.
You get CAD drawings and a full material specification before anything is made — colour, finish, thickness, cut-outs, edge details and fixings. Nothing gets cast until you have signed it off.
Mould, cast, cure, finish, seal. Typically 3 to 6 weeks from design confirmation.
We fit our own work. The person who drew it and cast it is the person putting it in, so nothing gets lost in a handover.
We cast in the workshop for controlled precision, or build the formwork on site for joint-free long runs, corners and waterfall ends. We will tell you which approach the job needs.
Our GFRC and UHPC mixes are formulated here. Most worktops are cast at full finished thickness. At the same thickness, concrete is no heavier than granite or quartz. Where weight matters, GFRC can be cast thin with returned edges, so it looks thick but weighs far less.
There is no fixed maximum size. Lead time is typically 3 to 6 weeks from design confirmation. We work within roughly 50 miles of Small Dole, and 70 miles or more for the right job.
Concrete is a material you have to handle. We cast sample tablets in our stock colours and finishes and post them free, anywhere in the UK.
If you are nearby we would rather bring them to you and see the space at the same time — a colour behaves differently in the room it is going into than it ever does on a screen.

Usually not. Like for like, concrete weighs about the same as granite or quartz, so cabinets that take a stone worktop take ours. Where weight matters, we cast GFRC thin with returned edges, so it looks thick and weighs far less.
No. We seal with SureCrete XS-327 — food safe once cured, heat resistant to 149°C, and repairable in place rather than requiring replacement.
It depends on size, complexity, finish and whether we cast on site. Send us a rough layout and we will give you a real number rather than a range you cannot use.
“The attention to detail from the very start was incredible. ROKA began by creating detailed CAD drawings, which allowed us to really visualise the kitchen and refine the design before work began. Being an old farm building, almost nothing was straight or standard, but the team designed and built bespoke pieces that fit the space perfectly. ROKA listened to all of our ideas (and the many changes along the way!) and somehow managed to incorporate them while keeping the overall design coherent. They took our vision and turned it into something better than we had imagined.”

“Aaron from ROKA is a very personable craftsman and we enjoyed working with him. He advised and involved us in every step of the design process and turned our chosen piece into a beautiful and functional piece of furniture.”
